*College credits earned in high school (includes AP and Dual Credit Courses) do not count towards the above credits for room reservations or our residency requirement. Our priority is the success of our students. Our residence hall communities are targeted to support students based on years in college rather than credits earned.
As You Prepare to Reserve Your Room Please Consider:
Current students must place themselves in a bed. This allows you to receive your preferred placement before new students are placed in the halls.
If current students are interested in moving to another residence hall/room, they must follow the room reservation schedule as outlined above.
Moving from your current assignment to a new one during the remaining spring 2026 semester, does not affect your selected room reservation for 2026-27.
Please note, however, that if you moved rooms in 2025-2026, you may be unable to reserve that new space for 2026-2027 as someone else may have already reserved it.
For information on how to change your next year’s room reservation, please see the section titled “How to Change Your Room Reservation.”
There is a limit to the number of students who can be in the housing system at a time. If you get a Service Temporary Unavailable error message, please wait a few minutes and try logging in again.
Students with a hold on their PASS account will not be able to submit their residence hall contract until the hold is removed. Please log-in to PASS to determine the reason for the hold.
Students can only view available spaces for their gender identity listed in PASS.
Residence Life reserves the right to consolidate students reserved spaces to manage occupancy needs if you reserve a space in a suite or room by yourself.
If you place yourself in a room and do not have a roommate at the time of assignment, you do not have a single room. Again, this does not mean you have the room as a single. This means you have an open space in your room, as you would be one occupant in a double room. Residence Life reserves the right to assign available spaces as needed even after room assignments are initially complete.
If the space you would like to reserve is already booked by a different student, please select another room. Residence Life will not move students from a selected space in order to accommodate a request of this nature.
Room Reservation Process: How to Reserve Your Space
Log into your PASS account and click on “Housing/Meals” on the blue column on the left-hand side.
Once the Housing App loads, click on “Housing/Meals Room Sign-up” on the orange bar near the top of the page.
If you are unable to access the tile, please change your web browser to Firefox or Chrome.
Click on the “Housing/Meals” Signup. For most students, this will be “Academic Year 2026-2027”. Click “Apply”.
Please be aware that a residence life and meal contract begins when you click “Apply”.
You will arrive at the Meal Plan page. Freshman and Sophomore students are required to select a meal plan. Juniors and Seniors can bypass the screen by clicking “Continue” at the bottom.
If Applicable: Review, Agree, and Accept the Terms of a Meal Plan Contract.
Review, agree, and accept the terms of the Residence Life Contract.
Once you accept the terms of the legally binding contract, you will be held to it regardless of room assignment location.
Make sure your desire is to live on-campus regardless of which residence hall prior to completing the housing contract, as hall assignment will not grant contract release.
Review and complete the accommodations page. Review and/or update your personal details.
Submit your contract.
If Applicable: create your Roommate Duo (see next section entitled “Creating a Roommate Duo.”)
Select your hall and room. Assign yourself to a bed in the room. Confirm your hall and room placement.
The last page is the “Application Status” page. It will let you know:
Your application complete date.
Your hall and room placement.
Congratulations! Your contract is complete. We are excited to have you with us on-campus!
How to Change Your Room Reservation Once You Have Reserved Your 2026-27 Residence Hall Space
This section applies to you if:
You have a same-room reservation for next year and would like to change rooms.
You have a Southwest Hall reservation for next year and would like to change rooms.
You have already reserved a room for next year (at any point prior to May 22), and would like to change your selection to a new room,
Steps
Log into your PASS account and click on “Housing/Meals” on the blue column on the left-hand side.
When you see that housing app load, click on “Housing/Meals Room Sign-up” on the orange bar near the top of the page.
If you are unable to access the tile, please change your web browser to Firefox or Chrome.
You should see your contract details in a green box on the screen. It will show you the date you started the contract, your current room reservation, and the date you signed the contract.
Click on “Continue” in the green box to load the next page.
As you return to your completed contract, you are welcome to update any information.
Click on “Save and Continue” to advance through the process until you get to the “Room Selection” screen.
At this point you can select your new hall and/or room.
After you select your new bed, it will show your current 2025-2026 room reservation and your desired 2026-27 room reservation.
Select “Yes,” to confirm that you have agreed to the change in your 2026-27 room reservation.
This process closes on Friday, May 22.
Scenario TO use a Roommate DUO
New students wishing to live with another NEW student (New Freshman or Transfer student).
Returning students wishing to live with a NEW student (New Freshman or Transfer student).
Scenario NOT TO use a Roommate DUO
IF you completed a Same Room Signup contract and wish to add your current roommate as a roommate for your next year reservation.
Creating a Roommate DUO
The simplest way for you and a friend to live together is to reserve your 2026-2027 room(s) at the same time.
Current returning students only need a Roommate Duo if they want to live with an incoming or transfer student (someone not currently attending UW-Platteville).
If you have reserved a room during Same Room signup, Southwest Hall signup, or with Single Room signup and chose to add a roommate duo to your contract, this will result in the removal of any previously made reservations. Meaning any previous reservations will be removed causing you to unintentionally lose your current room.
If you already know your desired room, hall, and roommate choice, communicate with your potential roommate and submit the contract at the same time. The simplest way for you and a friend to live together is to reserve your 2026-2027 room(s) at the same time
Roommate requests are completed by making a Roommate Duo for those wanting to room with a new or transfer student. Please note that all Roommate Duos are limited to two people (yourself and one other student).
Do not create a Roommate Duo until you are ready to commit to that roommate request.
You will not be “searchable” once you have created and/or accepted a Roommate Duo request.
To search for a roommate or send someone a request to join your group, they must have a completed application.
Roommate requests are not guaranteed and are accommodated on a space-available basis.
We will not remove an individual from a space they already reserved to accommodate your roommate duo.
If you are the leader, or organizer, of your Roommate Duo, you will need to revisit the Housing/Meals page before the deadlines to confirm if your roommate has joined your duo and that you have accepted their request to join.
If your requested roommate does not accept within seven days, the request is automatically cancelled. All roommate requests must be mutual.
You and your requested roommate should discuss what type of residence hall you will be selecting as your preference. Please be aware that students have different budgets, and it may not be financially feasible to live in a higher cost residence hall.
You do not have to identify a roommate. You can search for a roommate match or have one randomly assigned to you.
You are not required to locate a roommate. If you do not have one, you will find out your roommate assignment during the summer when housing assignment emails are sent.
Residence Life Contract
All residence hall contracts are in place for the entire academic year. When a student submits the contract (checks the box), it is legally binding. No cancellation of a contract is permitted unless you are no longer attending UW-Platteville.
First and second year students who do not submit the e-contract are contacted in March to verify their compliance with the residency requirement for 2026-27. The Department of Residence Life will place a registration on the PASS account of any student not in compliance with the residency requirement.
If you are not required to live on campus and are unsure of your housing plans for next year, you should wait to reserve a room. Residents will be held to their legally binding E-contract if they sign a lease with an off-campus entity. Signing an off-campus lease does NOT cancel your Residence Hall Contract or make one exempt from UW System Policy. You can sign up for a residence hall any time.
2026-2027 Residence Hall Room Rates
The UW System Board of Regents approves rates for the 2026-27 academic year in summer 2026. Rountree Commons rates are determined separately. Room rates may increase from the previous year. Please choose a residence hall with your budget in mind. Here are the rates for the 2025-26 academic year:
Traditional Room (Morrow*, Pickard, and Wilgus*) – $4,620/year
Renewed Traditional (Melcher Hall and Porter Hall) – $5,100/year
Elevated Traditional (Dobson Hall) – $5,220/year
McGregor/Wilgus/Morrow Single Room (McGregor, Morrow 4W & 1st Floor Wilgus) – $5,740/year
Rountree Commons (semi-suite style) – $6,512/year
Bridgeway Commons (semi-suite style) – $6,420/year
Southwest Hall (suite style) – $6,600/year
*This is excluding Wilgus 1st floor singles and Morrow 4W singles
Southwest Hall & Single Room Eligibility
Southwest Hall is only available for those one year removed from high school graduation by Fall 2026. This means Fall 2025 first-year students can reserve an open space in Southwest. Only students who graduated high school prior or equal to Spring 2024 are eligible to live on first and sixth floor of Southwest Hall.
Single rooms in the traditional halls, including McGregor Hall, are only available for returning UW-Platteville students or transfer students. Incoming first-year students are not eligible to live in Southwest Hall or the single rooms in the traditional halls. Single rooms are not available in Bridgeway Commons or Southwest Hall.
All-Gender Housing
The most common space utilized for all-gender housing are Southwest Hall suites. You must have three other students identified to select an all-gender suite (a full group of four students). Each person must submit their own contract and reserve an available space. When a student logs into their Housing Portal, they can only view available spaces for their gender identity in PASS.
Instructions:
All four participants must:
Reserve any open space in the residence halls,
Send an email to reslife@uwplatt.edu including all members of your suite indicating your preference for an all-gender suite. The Assignments and Contracts Coordinator at Residence Life will be in contact with the group to complete and sign the All-Gender Housing Agreement.
Residence Life will assign your group to an open suite depending on occupancy availability. If you lived in all-gender housing during the current academic year and have agreed to all-gender housing the next year, you will return to your same suite.
If you do not identify three other students interested in living with you, please visit Residence Life’s office in Ullsvik Hall. It is your responsibility to contact others to make up a four-person suite—Residence Life will not contact individuals or match individuals together.
We are committed to assisting all students to find a space that feels like home to them. Any student may contact Residence Life at 608.342.1845 to assist you in selecting a space that works best for you. Our mission states that we strive to provide safe, clean, comfortable, and inclusive living environments.
Graduation & University Sponsored Program Information
The Department of Residence Life will adjust the full-year contract to a semester contract for any student who will be graduating in December, participating in a university sponsored program (study abroad, co-op, internship, student teaching) or active military service in the following ways:
Fall Sponsored Program Information: Students who have a fall university sponsored program are required to live in the residence halls when they return for the spring semester if they have completed a 2026-2027 housing e-contract. Students must notify Residence Life to notify them of their fall participation to credit their fall semester. The student’s contracted space is then cancelled for that fall term. Students will be directed to complete the spring 2027 semester application. Our office will not know what spaces are available until the semester break of 2026-27. We will be confirming your involvement to ensure compliance.
Spring Sponsored Program Information: Students participating in a university sponsored program (study abroad, co-op, internship, student teaching) or active military service for the Spring 2027 semester need to complete the “Application for Release from Residence Life Contract” found here. Please review the form and complete it, attaching any necessary documentation, and return it to Residence Life at reslife@uwplatt.edu. The Director of Residence Life or their designee reviews and makes the final decision on all release requests. Be aware that submitting the form does not mean you are released from your contract. A student’s contract is not terminated without the written authorization and approval from Residence Life. We will be confirming your involvement to ensure compliance.
December Graduation Information: Students who graduate in December 2026 are no longer considered UW-Platteville students and will not be held to the spring 2027 e-contract terms. We will be confirming your graduation to ensure compliance.
Meal Plan Information
Students with less than 60 credits are required to be on a meal plan.
If you select a meal plan and do not proceed with the e-contract, a meal plan charge is placed on your PASS account. If you wish to remove the meal plan, please contact Dining Services at dining@uwplatt.edu or call 608.342.1404.
Commuter meal plans are for off campus students only. If you will not be in the residence halls, you must select this option.
For additional questions regarding meal plans, please contact Dining Services at dining@uwplatt.edu as Residence Life does not manage meal plans.
